Happy Tuesday! This week’s #teatime topic is Power Foods. We all know school is starting soon, which means you’ll need an extra boost to power through your weeks. Here’s a list of the top 6 foods you should add to your list to keep the energizer bunny running.
Dark chocolate is known to improve heart health, reduce blood pressure and increase blood flow to the brain. Make sure to find one that is higher in cocoa, as the more it contains, the richer the chocolate’s health-promoting content.
Pomegranate is filled with antioxidants, to help your body’s cells from aging and keeping your health. They also have more antioxidant power than green tea or cranberry juice!! Like dark chocolate, it can also improve blood flow in the body.
Avocados contain heart healthy fats which actually help to reduce cholesterol. It also is a good source of potassium, which helps balance water levels in your body. Avocados contain lutein as well, which helps your eyesight and protects against breast cancer.
Salmon is not only an excellent source of protein, but it also has omega-3 fatty acids! Your body can’t produce these on their own, so it’s important that you eat them. They help minimize inflammatory diseases, help your hair and skin, and with depression. Be sure to add these to your diet.
Pumpkins are a great source of beta-carotene, which is good for eyes (like carrots!). It also includes vitamin C and potassium, both of which help balance the sodium in your body.
Tea is the go-to drink during summer and winter! Regular tea consumption can help prevent cancer and heart disease. The antioxidants will help protect the body from aging and getting sick, so drink up!
